Our Doctors

Dr. Grant L. Madsen, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

Scout_Camp_Zion_NP_2010_225_1_1.JPGDr. Grant Madsen obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Washington State University in 1992. After practicing three years in Montana, he moved to Utah to open a practice in Payson with a classmate. Family Pet Hospital is the third hospital he has designed and established as his goals & vision have developed. His fourth hospital was Pet Urgent Care in Orem, which provides emergency veterinary care after regular business hours, as well as on weekends and holidays. Dr. Madsen's professional interests include laser surgery, laser therapy, dentistry and orthopedics while endeavoring to promote an overall wellness approach to pet care as pets are truly one of the family. Dr. Madsen and his wife, Delia, have nine children, a border collie & golden retriever, a cat, and a cockatiel. He enjoys woodworking, windsurfing, kayaking, backpacking, skiing and canyoneering.

Dr. Marcel W. Lee, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

Family Pet Hospital is thrilled to share Dr. Marcel Lee with our clients. Dr. Lee graduated from BYU with her bachelor’s in Animal Science and earned her DVM at Western University of Health Sciences. She takes pride in her oath to pets to do no harm and to be a voice for the animals. Her compassion and respect for animals paired with her scientific and analytical mind make her a wonderful addition to our practice.  Dr. Lee comes from a large family – she is the 13th child! She has been happily married for 5 years and together they share an adorable 3 year old daughter, an 9 year old Border Collie named Raven and 9 year old Chihuahua mix named Cricket.  In her free time she enjoys being outdoors with her family; camping, hiking and fishing. Dr. Lee loves being able to practice her passion while supporting her family and looks forward to helping you and your pet.

Karen Torres, Veterinary Technician

Nicole Olsen, Veterinary Technician

Nicole graduated from Broadview University in June of 2015 with an Associate’s degree in Applied Animal Science. She passed the National Vet Tech Exam in August of 2015, becoming a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT). Nicole has contributed her skills and compassion to our practice since 2012 and loved every minute of it! Her future goals include starting a family and using her passion for horses to offer therapeutic riding lessons to people with disabilities.  Nicole and her husband, Mark, have a bunny named Dixon, a Brittany Spaniel named Goose and a German Short Hair named Ruger. Together they enjoy spending time outdoors hunting, shooting, fishing, hiking, and camping. Nicole loves the ever-evolving veterinary industry and welcomes the opportunity to learn something new every day.

Allie Adamson, Veterinary Nurse

Allie is currently attending Broadview University scheduled to graduate with an Associate’s in Applied Veterinary Science in March of 2016. She loves working with animals and is especially interested in the science behind Veterinary medicine. Allie has been married for almost 8 years! Together they have two children; a 3 year old son and a 1 year old daughter.  Allie takes joy out of the fact that she gets to come to work and be a part of making sick animals healthy again. 

James Schmidt, Veterinary Assistant

James is the youngest of nine children with 29 nieces and nephews. His family always had pets growing up and from a young age James knew that he would work with animals when he grew up.  Being a doctor of Veterinary medicine became his childhood dream.  He is working toward his Bachelor’s degree in Biology at BYU and plans to continue his education to achieve his dream of becoming James Schmidt, DVM.   When James isn’t hard at work at Family Pet Hospital he loves to swim, run and play the piano.

James comes to us from Country View Veterinary Hospital where he did an internship.  He has a passion for animals and a deep love for cats.  One day he will be the crazy cat man. James brings his ambition, intelligence and drive to work with him every single day and he can’t wait to meet your furry family members!

Taunie Peterson, Customer Service Representative

Taunie.JPGTaunie grew up in Idaho and has lived in Wyoming, Pennsylvania, and Utah. She loves animals and has always had two or three pets at a time. Taunie and her family have two dogs: Chika, a malamute, and Sandy, a cattle dog. 

Taunie has worked for the Family Pet Hospital since April 2010 and she loves every day. It is very rewarding. Taunie enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, being outdoors, and running with Chika and Sandy.

 Kim Vaughn, Customer Service Representative

Born in SoCal and raised in Utah, Kim joined the Family Pet team in January 2015. With Kim comes her daughter Kaytleigh, dog Buddy and cat Wells! In her spare time, Kim is a licensed Esthetician and free lance makeup artist. She enjoys anything to do with water (especially swimming) and writing!  

Delia Madsen, Chief Financial Officer

Dr. Madsen's wife has her hands full with their nine children and still takes time to handle all the bookkeeping and staff management for the hospital.  Delia grew up in Oregon, hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and enjoys backpacking, camping, gardening and reading.   Her vision is for the Family Pet Hospital to have the greatest reputation in Utah Valley for customer service, pet care and as a great place to work.
