Dr. Grant L. Madsen, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Grant Madsen obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Washington State University in 1992. After practicing three years in Montana, he moved to Utah to open a practice in Payson with a classmate. Family Pet Hospital is the third hospital he has designed and established as his goals & vision have developed. His fourth hospital was Pet Urgent Care in Orem, which provides emergency veterinary care after regular business hours, as well as on weekends and holidays. Dr. Madsen’s professional interests include laser surgery, laser therapy, dentistry and orthopedics while endeavoring to promote an overall wellness approach to pet care as pets are truly one of the family. Dr. Madsen and his wife, Delia, have nine children, a border collie & golden retriever, a cat, and a cockatiel. He enjoys woodworking, windsurfing, kayaking, backpacking, skiing and canyoneering.
Dr. Marcel W. Lee, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
Family Pet Hospital is thrilled to share Dr. Marcel Lee with our clients. Dr. Lee graduated from BYU with her bachelor’s in Animal Science and earned her DVM at Western University of Health Sciences. She takes pride in her oath to pets to do no harm and to be a voice for the animals. Her compassion and respect for animals paired with her scientific and analytical mind make her a wonderful addition to our practice. Dr. Lee comes from a large family – she is the 13th child! She has been happily married for 5 years and together they share an adorable 5-year-old daughter, a 2-year-old Llewelyn Setter named Ellie and an 11-year-old Chihuahua mix named Cricket. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors with her family; camping, hiking and fishing. Dr. Lee loves being able to practice her passion while supporting her family and looks forward to helping you and your pet.
Nicole Olsen, Certified Veterinary Technician
Nicole has been part of the FPH team since 2013. You’ll find her jotting inspirational quotes and educational goals in her planner, scaling lots of teeth, beating her own personal records and expertly assisting our doctors with your best bud – all while singing. In her free time she hangs out with her four-year-old pony, Tacoma trying to tame her sassiness. She gets to share her life with Mark, her best friend and husband, Goose, the love of her life mutt, and Ruger, her trouble child GSP.
We all would have guessed that her childhood dream was to be a singer, but apparently she dreamed of being a Veterinarian. Her skills and passion make being a Veterinary Nurse the perfect job for Nicole. Her favorite part of veterinary nursing is helping a dog or cat with severe periodontal disease and seeing them come back after treatment acting five years younger.
Nicole’s perfect holiday would involve naps, brussel sprouts, horses and the word Phenylpropanolamine – say that five times fast!
Family Pet Hospital is proud to have Nicole as an integral part of our successful team and know that your pets will agree.
Karen Torres, Veterinary Nurse
Karen joined the team in 2013, giving up five years of fast food work to help pets and educate their owners. Fast food sure is missing out on this amazing employee. She learned when she was young that you have to work hard for what you want in life and she carries that lesson with her to work every single day. As a child, she dreamed of being a flying eagle Veterinarian… or maybe it was just a Veterinarian that could fly… or maybe just an eagle… either way, we are pretty sure that being a Veterinary Nurse is her calling in life.
Karen fills many of her days leading our team of animal lovers through successful days, polishing your pet’s teeth to a pristine sparkle, immersing herself in lab work and daydreaming about tacos, pinatas and puppies. The days she isn’t lending her talents to our hospital, she spends with her five year old daughter. If Karen wasn’t so amazing at what she does she’d become an animal control officer – look out feline fugitives!
We are lucky to have Karen on our team and trust that your pets will be in good hands when they’re in her care.

Allie Adamson, Veterinary Nurse
Allie has been an important part of our nursing team since 2015. If Allie isn’t here at the hospital helping Dr. Madsen and Dr. Lee care for your pet, you’ll find her caring for her 3 kids or playing with glitter and confetti. Like a few of our other nurses, Allie had childhood dreams of being a Veterinarian and if she weren’t so good as a veterinary nurse, she’d love to work in human medicine or run an animal sanctuary.
Allie has a knack for rolling with the punches and never quits. She loves dealing with emergency situations but loves seeing the pets recover even more. Allie wishes she were a unicorn with the ability to grow extra arms and clone herself – Family Pet Hospital definitely could use a few more of her around!
Shelby Angle, Veterinary Nurse
Shelby started out helping human patients as a CNA and switched over to the furry side in the fall of 2016. She tried to leave us once to be a stay-at-home mommy but realized that her passion for educating pet owners was just too strong to ignore. We welcomed Shelby back with open arms and are blessed to have her on our team. Shelby graces our nursing team a few times a week assisting our doctors in the exam and treatment rooms, and even lends her exceptional service skills to our receptionist staff weekly. Shelby is multi-talented and an invaluable asset to our hospital and your pets!
In her youth, Shelby played softball on a traveling team where she learned valuable team building skills that come in handy every day here at FPH. At home, Shelby loves to be crafty – and she’s good at it! If she won the lottery tomorrow, she’d definitely start a successful home decor company with her husband, Matt and little girl, Kallie by her side. When she isn’t here at work, Shelby loves to spend time with her two Cocker Spaniels, husband and daughter camping, hunting, boating and swimming.
Jenny Clark, Veterinary Assistant
Jenny could quite possibly be our most compassionate nurse at Family Pet Hospital. She has a knack for collecting dogs, cats, racoons and plants – so much so that she could start a wildlife rehabilitation if only she would win the lottery. Jenny uses her giant heart to soothe you and your pets while in our hospital and she excels at it. Jenny has a passion for learning and inspiring others. She recently graduated from Utah Valley University with a dual bachelor’s degree in both Biology and Botany! When she isn’t here at the hospital caring for your pets, Jenny enjoys camping, hiking and adventuring in the great outdoors with her dogs Oakley, Mowgli and Pepper.
Camille Averett, Veterinary Assistant
Camille is a fresh, new member of our team at Family Pet Hospital. As a child she dreamed of being a Veterinarian and rescuing all the abused or homeless pets. She has a heart of gold and uses it to make your pets feel safe and loved while they’re in our care. Camille is pretty sure she was a Disney princess with a pet Golden Retriever in another life. Seeing the positive outcome for both pets and their people and knowing that she was part of their happy ending is her ultimate fairytale come true.
Camille resides with her parents and two dogs. She has one sister in Louisiana, two wonderful nephews and one beautiful niece. The most important thing she learned before high school is to be yourself – you don’t have to do things that make you uncomfortable just to make people like you. Real friends will like the real you. We sure like the real Camille here at FPH!
You’ll find Camille snuggling all the pets she can get her hands on while simultaneously filling her brain with as much knowledge as it can possibly fit – that’s some multi-tasking talent!
Melissa Fisher, Veterinary Assistant
Melissa is our resident puppy-picture-taker here at Family Pet Hospital and has been rocking that position for over a year now. When she isn’t ogling over your new furry family member, she’s diligently giving 110% to every task she’s given. Our nurses and doctors keep Melissa busy processing lab work, getting vitals on our patients, filling medications, assisting in pre-op and post-op procedures and ensuring your pets needs are met during their time here.
As a child in Las Vegas, Nevada, Melissa dreamed of becoming a Veterinarian, the majesty of horses and of having more money than she knows what to do with. She still dreams of horses and riches but has traded the Veterinarian dream for a Veterinary Nurse title and she’s working hard to achieve it! Melissa is kind, respectful and compassionate and it shines in her interactions with every pet she meets. She thrives on helping solve the problems of the pet community and loves a happy outcome just as much as the rest of us do.
Marin Crockett, Veterinary Assistant
Marin is a compassionate, go-getter with a huge heart that is probably filled with glitter instead of blood. Marin spends her evenings here at the hospital cleaning up from a long day of treating animals, feeding and playing with our boarding pets. She loves coming to work to see all the happy pets – and they are always happy to see Marin!
Animal Care Attendant Staff
Kaiden Exon, Animal Care Attendant
Kaiden has been caring for your pets during their boarding stay for almost a year now. He’s currently working toward becoming a Chemical Engineer (eek). Kaiden loves dogs, chemicals, and the word onomatopoeia – not all at the same time, thankfully. Kaiden’s work ethic, humor and compassion make him a great Animal Care Attendant at our hospital. All the pets love him and so do we!
Aspen Madsen, Animal Care Attendant
Aspen graces our boarding guests with her humble and serene personality a few times a week. She enjoys embarking upon crazy adventures with her self proclaimed odd family and hopes to one day become a Veterinarian like her father. Aspen brings a calming vibe to our hospital and boarding facility that really transfers to our furry guests’ demeanors during their stay with us. Aspen is an asset to our hospital and we can’t wait to watch her grow and learn!

Taunie Peterson, Front Office Manager
Taunie has been the front-end face of Family Pet Hospital for almost 10 years! Taunie spends the majority of her days greeting you and your pet at the door, coaxing your dog to the scale, keeping our hospital full of delicious food (for your pet, not for you) and making sure it smells amazing when you walk in. Behind the scenes, Taunie bring the staff treats on holidays and “just because” days, makes us all feel appreciated, turns our heat on in the winter and always goes the extra mile to make sure our hospital runs smoothly.
In her life before us, Taunie worked as a recruiter and trainer in Human Resources and was possibly an angel. Taunie loves the sound of people laughing and her infectious love and inspirational personality brings the laughter out in all of us. Taunie brings such joy to our hospital, the pets and the clients. We are incredibly lucky to have Taunie as the backbone of our client service team!
Delia Madsen, Practice Manager
Dr. Madsen’s wife has her hands full with their nine children and still takes time to handle all the bookkeeping and staff management for the hospital. Delia grew up in Oregon, hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and enjoys backpacking, camping, gardening and reading. Her vision is for the Family Pet Hospital to have the greatest reputation in Utah Valley for customer service, pet care and as a great place to work.
