As loving pet owners, we want our animal companions to live as many years as possible. At Family Pet Hospital, we believe the best way to accomplish this is by making a commitment to ongoing wellness care.
By scheduling regular checkups, you’ll help keep your pet safe from many common ailments that can affect companion animals. You’ll also improve the likelihood of early diagnosis in the event of an underlying illness.
These simple things can add years to your best friend’s life.
At each visit, we’ll check your pet from nose to tail, looking for anything out of the ordinary. We’ll also create a customized wellness plan that will include vaccines, parasite prevention, nutrition and weight management, and anything else we deem relevant.
From time to time, the doctor might also recommend various health screenings. These routine tests help us identify and address potential health concerns early, before they have a chance to develop and worsen.
Finally, annual visits give all of us at Family Pet Hospital the chance to truly get to know you and your pet. Developing a relationship with you and forging a bond with your animal friend is an essential component of the care we provide.
You want your pet to enjoy as many happy, healthy years as possible. Let the dedicated team at Family Pet Hospital help you achieve that goal!

The first visit will always be with the doctor regardless of the age of the pet.
*Intestinal Parasite Screening: Please bring a small stool sample (quarter-sized and less than 24 hours old) to the appointment. The Intestinal Parasite Screen checks for hookworm, whipworm, roundworm, giardia and coccidia. Preventative treatment is Interceptor or Heartgard.
Puppies under 6 months of age that are started on a heartworm preventative (Interceptor/Heartgard) will not need a heartworm test until 2 years old. Dogs over 7 months will need a heartworm test if they’ve never been on a preventative. Heartworm tests are needed every 2 years, as long as your pet has received the preventative medicine on a regular monthly basis. If your pet has not received their monthly dose for longer than 2 months, they will need to be retested.
Puppies can have their castration(neuter) or ovariohysterectomy (spay) on the 3rd or 4th visit when they are 12-16 weeks old.
